What You Need to List Your Property: Botswana

As part of our activation process, we are required to verify all properties before they can go live. The required documents depend on your property’s ownership structure and compliance with local regulations in Botswana.

Identity Verification (Host)

For individual hosts

  • Certified copy of the Omang National Identity Card for Botswana citizens, or a valid passport for non-citizens

For company-owned properties

  • CIPA extract not older than 3 months, reflecting current directors and shareholders

Proof of address (all hosts)

  • Utility bill from WUC or BPC, or a lease agreement in the name of the host or company

Operational Legality (Business Requirements)

  • Tourism Enterprise Licence (TEL) issued by the Department of Tourism is mandatory

  • Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) grading certificate, or a clear photo of the star grading plaque

Property Verification (Listing)

To confirm legal rights to the property

  • Title Deed for properties on State Land or Freehold land

  • Land Board Certificate or 99-year lease for properties on Tribal Land

  • If the property is located in a residential area, a Change of Use approval from the local Council or Physical Planning office is required, confirming permission to operate as short-term accommodation
